An avid reader myself since I was young, I love that my kids are just as much readers as I am. 

Here you will find an every growing selection of games from some of our favorite books! 



Teen Book Themed Party Games


Name that Book! 

How well do you pay attention?

Objective: Guess the book!

Items Needed: Plot summary from some of your favorite books along with the name of the book. 

Game Play: Read the plot summary aloud to your guests, leaving out the specific name of the characters or places that would give the answer away to easily. (This is easier accomplished by writing down the plots and changing the words out before guests arrive.)

Name That Book.. Book themed party game!

For example: Replacing names with She or He and other easy switches. For Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone it would read: 

"He has never played a sport while flying on a broomstick. He's never worn a cloak of invisibility, befriended a giant, or helped hatch a dragon. All he knows is a miserable life with the Relatives, the man and woman, and their child." 

And so on. The players that gets the most correct wins! 


Balancing the Books  

How are you at Math? KIDDING!

Balancing the Books.. another fun Book themed party game!

Objective: Who has the best balancing act? 

Items Needed: All of your favorite books plus a few others.  

Game Play: For this game you will take your favorite books and place them on your head. You will then walk as far as you can without the books falling off or touching them with your hands. The player who makes it the furthest with the most books wins! 

Game play can easily be broken into rounds with the first round being one book.. second round two books etc. If you drop the books you are out of the game and do not continue to the next round. 


Memory Quotes   

Didn't I just see that?

Objective: Match the most quotes!

Items Needed: Index cards cut in half, pen, favorite quotes from your favorite books! The more you have the harder the game. 

Game Play: Before guests arrive write down your favorite quote on TWO index card halves. When game play begins you will scramble the index cards together then place face down on a table or the floor. Each player will take turns turning over two cards per turn. If they match they may go again. If they do not match then the play goes to the next player. Once all cards are matched the one with the most wins!

Objective: Be the last man standing! 

Items Needed: Paper, pen, and a jar or fish bowl.

May the Odds be Ever in Your Favor?

Game Play: As guest arrive to your party have them put their name on a piece of paper and drop it in the fish bowl. After all guest have arrived let the games begin! Every 13 minutes have a reaping and draw two names from the jar. Keep doing this until the end of the party... (if you need to hurry it along you can cut the time down in between the drawings)... the last name in the jar wins the Hunger Games!!! 


A Pretty Little Photo Scavenger Hunt!

Why does it seem like the girls from the Pretty Little Liars books are always looking for clues?!

Objective: Find everything on the list! 

Items Needed: A list of items from the Pretty Little Liars television show or books. (Sample items listed below!)  

Game Play: Break guests into teams and give each a list with the items. They must take photos of themselves with the items using their cell phone or camera.

  • Camera - for Aria
  • Lock - "Got a secret can you keep it?"
  • Something Sporty - for Emily
  • Mask - Halloween Ball

Book Swap

Can I keep it?!

Objective: Find a new favorite! 

Items Needed: Have party guests bring a copy of their favorite book. (Have a few extra on hand just in case!) Have a table where guest drop the books upon arrival.

Book Swap!

Game Play:  When the party begins let everyone know the book swap is now open and that they may browse through any of the books on the table and take ONE each. Any books left over can be donated to your local boys and girls club, library, or homeless shelter!
